Editorial Standards

Main Card Media covers UFC, MMA, boxing, BKFC, Rizin and RAF. Combat sports reporting is full of numbers that get repeated until they feel true — records, title-defense counts, purses, reach measurements. A lot of them are wrong. These are the rules we hold ourselves to so that what you read here is accurate, and so that when we do get something wrong, we fix it in public.

How we verify fight records and results

No fight result, round, or method of victory appears on this site unless it has been checked against a primary or recognised record source. In practice that means:

  • Bout results, records and methods — checked against Tapology and, where available, the promotion’s own official results page.
  • Title histories and defense counts — checked against the sanctioning body’s own records (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO) or the promotion’s title history, not against secondary articles.
  • Official decisions, scorecards and weigh-in results — checked against the relevant athletic commission’s published results where those are public.

If a claim cannot be verified against one of those, it does not run. We would rather leave a detail out than repeat something we cannot stand behind. This applies to claims that would flatter a fighter as much as to claims that would diminish one.

Records vs. streaks vs. milestones

A large share of combat sports misinformation comes from collapsing three different things into one sentence. A fighter can hold the record for cumulative days as champion, have the third-longest run of consecutive defenses, and hold the record for most different opponents beaten in title fights — all at once, and all different claims. We state which one we mean, every time. “Most title defenses in history” is a specific, checkable claim, and we do not use it loosely.

Corrections

When we find an error — or a reader points one out — we correct the article itself rather than quietly deleting it. Factual corrections to records, results, dates and figures are made as soon as they are confirmed.

If you spot something wrong, tell us on X at @MainCard_Media — DMs are open. Point at the specific claim and, where you can, the source that contradicts it. That is the fastest way to get it fixed.

Opinion, analysis and prediction

We separate three things:

  • Reporting — what happened, sourced as above.
  • Analysis — our reading of why it happened, clearly framed as a view rather than a fact.
  • Predictions and picks — forecasts, which are opinions about the future and are wrong a meaningful share of the time. Nothing on this site is betting advice, and nothing here should be treated as a basis for wagering.

How our articles are produced

Main Card Media uses a range of research, drafting and editorial tools in producing its articles, including AI-assisted ones. The standards on this page apply to everything we publish regardless of how a piece was drafted: every factual claim is checked against the sources described above before it runs, and anything that cannot be verified is left out.

Independence

Main Card Media is independent and is not owned by, affiliated with, or paid by any promotion, management company, sanctioning body or sportsbook. We cover BKFC, Rizin and RAF with the same seriousness as UFC and the major boxing promotions, and no promotion has any say over what we publish or how a card is assessed.

If that ever changes — sponsorship, affiliate arrangements, or any other commercial relationship — it will be disclosed on this page and on the relevant articles before it affects anything you read.
